| 内容記述 | Background: In Japan, neurological sequelae including cerebral palsy (CP) have become a problem. Many children who are diagnosed with CP have a history of hospitalization in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). The NICU is greatly involved in nursing settings. Aim: I constructed a conceptual framework of the adjustment process of fathers for performance of father’s role in caring for p reterm infants with high risk of developing CP toward the nursing care development for parents in NICU. Design: Qualitative descriptive study. Methods: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with fi ve pairs of parents with preterm infants diagnosed with CP. Next, qualitative analyses of the transcribed interviews were conducted. Results: The adjustment process of fathers for performance of father’s role in caring for preterm infants with high risk of developing CP was the framework that six components circulated through, but their characteristics varied according to the stage of the adjustment process of fathers for performance of the father’s role:“Opportunity to perceive the role expectation for the father’s role”, “Thought about the father’s role”, “Sense of values and thought of father”, “Adjustment for performance of the father’s role”, “Performance of the father’s role”, and “Wives’ thoughts on husbands’ performance in the father’s role”. Conclusion: In premature infants with high risk of developing CP, it is diffi cult to predict a time when family crises can occur. In this study, I succeeded in clarifying the directionality of nursing support by establishing a concept framework of the adjustment process of fathers for performance of the father’s role. |
