How to prevent organizational wrongdoing is one of the most important issues in crisis management for organizations. Whistle-blowing can be considered as an effective measure for preventing and/or mitigating the harm of the wrongdoing. In this study, 2 surveys were conducted among Japanese salaried workers before and after the enforcement of the Whistle-blower Protection Act started in April 2006, and the results show that the necessity of the protection of whistle-blower was evaluated more important after the law enforcement. Other attitudes toward whistle-blowing, whistle-blowers, and whistle-blower protection laws were also discussed.
